Re: Hi from sunny south Utah

    Hi Norm,
It's good to see another Utah Healey owner! You may want to check out the Bonneville Austin Healey Club. Most of the members are in the SLC area, but there are a few outliers (like...

    Re: Speedometer Cable Routing

The picture in Steve's post is exactly how I did mine (also an early BT7). It seems to work fine.

    Re: hydraulic line material

I would agree with what's been said; the pre-made copper-nickel stuff is the way to go. I re-plumbed my bugeye with it. It's easy to bend (with a tubing bender of course), and it doesn't rust.

Thanks to everyone who answered. I had no idea there were so many good choices out there. Time to start making a decision, I guess.

    Re: Compensation

If you have a truck that big, you can just hang a few Morris Minors (or Bugeyes for that matter) off the sides as lifeboats.
  7. bugeye front tilt hood fastener -- choices

I need fasteners for my front tilt bonnet. I am considering getting one of the choices in the links below. It looks to me like the first one (the all metal one) is NOT spring loaded, and the...

    Re: Leaking Carburettor

Steve is correct that these are overflow ports. However, a correctly functioning carb shouldn't overflow. If you've got fuel leaking out it's probably because 1) the float is incorrectly adjusted;...

    Re: Proper Engagement of Overdrive

I don't use the clutch with the overdrive, and I don't think it was originally designed to use the clutch. Interesting idea, though, to use the main clutch and save wear on the overdrive clutch.

  12. Re: starter motor pinion gear -- 9 or 10 teeth?

Thanks John. That one appears to have a lot of adjustment, and the price is great!
  13. Re: starter motor pinion gear -- 9 or 10 teeth?

I was hoping to fix the starter I have, but you're probably right; it's not worth the time or trouble. If I'm going to replace, I'll probably go for the GR starter. My wife drives the car more than...
  14. starter motor pinion gear -- 9 or 10 teeth?

I have a late model 1275 cc (the engine number starts with 12V) engine in my bugeye. The starter motor works fine except that it doesn't appear to engage the ring gear smoothly. There's a lot of...

    Re: Tire choices for Bugeyes

Ya gotta forgive Drew, he's always using those highly technical terms like "light flickability". :friendly_wink: I think he means how quickly the car handles.

I also use 155/80R13 size tires...

    Re: trouble on 1st start

Just because the the pulley notch lines up with TDC doesn't mean the cam timing is right. HealeyNut is correct; you need to look at the valves.

Also, the fact that the wires from Moss don't work...

    Re: trouble on 1st start

You may have good fuel pressure to your carbs, but are the float bowls full? Easy enough to pull the top and check.

If you've got spark at the plugs and the distributor is oriented correctly,...

Re: AngliaGT - calling Doug! calling Doug!

    Tom,
Why don't you take 5 boxes at a time in an old Mercedes? Think of the fun you'd have!

If you're really planning to do this (in a truck, I mean), I hop you plan to stop in Utah.
