  1. New Year marks the return

After spending a year on household projects, this is my year to devote to my Sprites. Looking forward to getting one of them on the road before the year is out. Best body is now sitting on it's wheels and tires with new front calipers waiting for install. 1098 on my build table awaiting paint and assembly. Flywheel resurfaced, rocker assembly awais new central rod install and then onto the head.

I am swapping the position of the two cars to make it easier to move the build in and out ...

  2. Like a piece of jewlery

The rocker arm assembly and push rods are cleaned and polished. covered with fogging oil and wrapped in oily cloth. Looks like jewelery. Still have to get the tappets out and cleaned up of their surface rust. Also have to locate the screw adjusters for the rocker arms and clean them up. After weeks fighting the flu I have been thinking about the project in my shop. Found another Spridget - 1965 MG Midget in small town nearby. "Engine locked up"... but it has wire wheels. Photos look like its been sitting for awhile. Going to look at it this weekend. I must have lost my mind! With all of the boxes of parts I already have, what am I doing?

  5. Making piles of piles

Had a day to spend on the sprites. Worked on identifying system components and parts of sub-assemblies. Began with water circulation system and listing all the parts that needed to be replaced. Rubber and gaskets are sort of a given for replacement. Soon the lure of the engine was too powerful to resist and I pulled the pan off the 15 year old rebuild to check the condition of the crank and cam. They looked good with no rust on the vital surfaces. So I sprayed the interior with a light oil and closed ...
