NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill-Results

The 2006 race winner was a 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car. It led every lap with a record-setting victory of 705 laps or 2115 miles
This car ran under the Flying Lizard team in the first 25 Hour NASA event. Drivers were Kevin O’Connell, Craig Stanton, Greg Fordahl, Jason Bowles, Mike Speakman, and Berisha Betim.

"Lost ’n Spaced" team with a veteran, 1974 Porsche 911 finished 1995 miles for second place.

Third went to the Mazda-powered sports racer.

Forth went to one of two Car and Driver BMW 335d turbo diesels, which had held down third place overall through most of the race. The car was slowed at the end by failing shocks.
The second Car and Driver diesel BWM blew an engine in the first hour of the race. The crew swapped in another diesel, losing 4 hours in the process. The car got whacked by an Acura later on, requiring more repairs. It finished 32nd place (1389 miles).

48 cars finished out of 56 starters.

In a slightly unrelated topic. I just got back from a meeting with Barber's Motorsports Park. We are hosting a NASA event in the Fall of 2007 in which we are having a vintage car show as well. If you have never been to Birmingham Alabama I suggest you all make plans to make it here next fall. MORE TO FOLLOW...
