Can anyone tell me why I don't see more Triumph Stag? I think that is a really sexy car, but I hardly ever see them. Was this a limited production car? Was it a 6 like the TR6?

The Stag was a regular series production car based on the 2000/2500 line of sedans. It even shared most of it's front clip with these sedans.

It was powered by a small V8 that was unique to the Stag. Triumph wanted it's design and didn't care that the corporate Rover/BL V8 would be more economical. Problems with cooling soon cropped up and the Stag's U.S. life was cut short. No Stags came to the U.S. after 1973 - although they were made until 1977. Consequently they're a pretty rare bird on these shores.

Thanks for the info. I have always liked the Stag - reminds me of a bigger, more powerful Spitfire (which I also like).
