Just some information for folks looking to use ARP studs on an A-series. The catalog lists 3 different kits, a 9 stud, an 11 stud, and an 11 stud, shaved head (11 stud for the Cooper S head). I called ARP and asked what ‘shaved head’ meant. She said the two extra 3/8 studs were shorter at 4” (I forget if she said the other kit was 4-1/4” or 4-1/2”). The interesting thing is that Summit Racing lists the 9 stud kit for $101.88, the 11 stud kit for $111.99, and the 11 stud, shaved head kit for $81.39. The part # is 206-4206, which comes up as simply a Head Stud Kit without any reference to BMC, but the ARP catalog does list correctly.

Hi Chris,
Be sure to use the special moly lube that they provide with the kit. You will also need to torque the fasteners to their spec, not to the spec in your manuel.

I’m pretty impressed with ARP. I brought a connecting rod bolt to them once. One of the guys took a quick look at it and said “Oh, that’s out of an Austin Healey 3000 engine.”
